Ghanaian actress Nana Akua Addo has said videos showing her battered face and her children allegedly being ass@ulted by her husband were leaked without her knowledge or consent.
The actress made this known in a statement issued through her lawyers, Nkrabeah & Associates, who described the leaked videos as a deep violation of the privacy of Nana and her children.
According to the lawyers, their attention was drawn to several harrowing videos circulating on social media showing the actress and her children involved in a domestic dispute.
They said the videos were released without Nana’s consent and stressed that her children, who are minors, also had their privacy violated.
The lawyers appealed to media organisations and members of the public to stop publishing or sharing the videos, particularly those showing the alleged ass@ult of one of the children.
“We humbly request that all media houses refrain from publishing and sharing the videos especially the ones showing the abuse of a minor,” the statement read.
They urged the media and the public to consider the wellbeing of the children, who they said were already dealing with the trauma arising from the incident.
The lawyers disclosed that the matter was currently before the appropriate authorities and said they were grateful for the intervention of the Ghana Police.
“We are grateful for the timely intervention and responsiveness of Ghana Police and are confident in the competence of our court systems to stand up against domestic violence in our society,” they stated.
They added that Nana would address the issues surrounding the incident at the appropriate time, while appealing to the public to respect the family’s privacy.
“At the appropriate time our client will address all pertinent issues, in the meantime we ask that the media and the general public respect the privacy of the family as they deal with this difficult situation,” the lawyers said.
